The rules behind the numbers
How Rent, Loans and Tax Actually Work
Moving costs 3× weekly rent. Two weeks upfront plus one week of agent & agreement fees. The prepaid two weeks are used before new rent is charged (Saturdays after 9 AM).
Two weeks of arrears = Quit Notice. Fall more than two weeks behind and you are moved out to a cheaper place. Never let rent exceed your wage.
The LAPO loan is ₦60,000 cash, ₦72,000 owed. LAPO collects ₦12,000 automatically every week; missing a payment adds a 10% penalty (₦1,200) to the balance. Repay early whenever you can.
You can buy your home. The buy price is roughly one year of rent (location tier adjusts it 0.9×–1.15×). Owning ends rent forever; selling returns 80% of what you paid.
Tax almost never touches wages. The first ₦1,000,000 a week is free — wages even get their own separate allowance — then 20% / 30% / 35% bands. Bets, sales and gifts are never taxed. Resets every Monday.

How does the LAPO loan work in Lagos Life?
LAPO Babies start with ₦60,000 cash but owe ₦72,000 — ₦12,000 is auto-collected every week for 6 weeks. Miss a payment and a 10% penalty (₦1,200) is added to what you owe. You can repay early at any time.
How much tax do you pay in Lagos Life?
The first ₦1,000,000 earned in a week is tax-free, and wages get their own separate ₦1M allowance. Above that: 20% up to ₦10M, 30% up to ₦50M, 35% beyond. No single job pays enough to cross the allowance — tax only matters when you add business income on top.
