Nine skills, and each one trains slower the higher it gets. The activity you pick matters more than the hours you grind — here is the fastest training for every skill, and the decay rule that eats the ones you ignore.

The rules behind the numbers
How Skill Gains Actually Work
Skills are floats from 0 to 10. Your level is just the floor — 6.7 displays as level 6, and every level takes longer than the last because each gain is divided by (1 + 0.6 × your current level).
Gain = rate × hours × bonuses ÷ level drag. Bonuses multiply together: your trait, the quick-learner reward (×1.2), mood above 40 (×1.15), and the LAPO origin (×1.25). Stack all three and you train at 1.725×.
Marathons don't pay. Any session longer than 480 minutes only earns as if it were 120 minutes. Short, daily sessions beat weekend binges.
Skills rot if ignored. After 7 days without training, a skill decays 0.05 per day — bottoming out at max(0, level − 2, half your level). One session a week holds the line.
Work trains too. Every shift grows your career's skill at rate 0.35 — slower than training, but it happens while you earn.

Skills FAQ
Do skills decay in Lagos Life?
Yes. After 7 days without training a skill, it decays by 0.05 per day — but never below the floor of max(0, your level − 2, half your level). A level-8 skill can rot to 6.0; a level-3 skill stops at 1.5. One training session a week keeps every skill safe.
Is it better to train skills or work shifts in Lagos Life?
Working already trains you: every shift grows the career skill at rate 0.35. Dedicated training is far faster (the best activities run at rate 1.3–3.0), so the efficient pattern is to work for money and train the one skill your next promotion needs — then let work maintain it.
What are Dance and Photography for in Lagos Life?
Right now, nothing gates on them — no level in the full jobs table requires Dance or Photography. They were added to the client as skills 8 and 9, so they are almost certainly reserved for future careers. Training them now is cheap (both are free, at home) and banks progress ahead of whatever update uses them.
Do LAPO Babies train skills faster in Lagos Life?
Yes — the LAPO origin multiplies all skill gains by 1.25, and it stacks with the quick-learner reward (×1.2) and the mood bonus (×1.15 when mood is above 40). A LAPO Baby with both active trains at 1.725× before the level-slowdown divisor.
