Why the ATM Hack Is the Worst “Best” Crime

💻 Hack an ATM — CcHub, Yaba

It pays ₦1,000,000–₦5,000,000 — the biggest crime payout in the game. But you are caught 70% of the time, and the fine is ₦20,000,000:

0.3 × ₦3,000,000 − 0.7 × ₦20,000,000 = ₦-13,100,000

Plus 60 minutes in the cell, plus the risk that the sudden millions trigger an EFCC asset freeze. The refinery pays ₦70,000 a week with a 0% caught rate.

The rules behind the numbers

What Getting Caught Actually Means

Caught = cell, fine, bail. You're held at the police division. Jail time runs in real minutes (20–60 by crime) — and it's playable: sleep, eat, play cards with cellmates, do push-ups, clean the cell for good behaviour. Then pay bail to walk.

Nepo Babies have a lifeline. Daddy pays your bail — then docks it from the rent money as daddy debt. It's a loan from your own inheritance, not a pardon.

Big money moves trigger EFCC. Sudden large balance changes can freeze your assets: no selling land, no selling businesses, no transfers. The one crime worth millions is exactly the one that trips it.

The floor crimes are pure loss. Graffiti and sneaking into VIP pay ₦0 — you are paying ₦20,000–₦40,000 in expected fines for the thrill.

Questions

Crime FAQ

Is crime worth it in Lagos Life?

No — every crime is negative expected value. The best-paying one, the ATM hack at CcHub, pays ₦1M–₦5M but has a 70% caught rate and a ₦20,000,000 fine: expected value is ₦-13,100,000 per attempt, before counting jail time. A single refinery shift pays ₦14,000 with zero risk.

What happens when you get caught in Lagos Life?

You're detained at the police division, fined, and serve jail time in real minutes (20–60 depending on the crime). In the cell you can sleep on the mat, eat cell food, play cards with cellmates, do push-ups, or clean the cell for good behaviour — then pay bail to leave. Nepo Babies can call Daddy to cover bail, but it becomes daddy debt docked from the rent money.

How do you lift an EFCC asset freeze in Lagos Life?

There is no unfreeze action in the game client. Large, suspicious balance movements trigger an EFCC freeze that blocks selling land, selling businesses and transfers. The only reliable strategy is not triggering it — which means not doing the one crime with million-naira payouts.

What can you do in jail in Lagos Life?

Jail is playable: sleep on the mat, eat the cell food, use the cell toilet, play cards with cellmates, do push-ups, and clean the cell for good behaviour. When you're done, pay bail at the desk. It's an experience — just an expensive way to pass time.

The legal route pays better

Zero risk, positive expected value, and nobody freezes your assets. Boring wins.
